The Mississippi State football team has found itself trailing LSU by a score of 10-3 in an ugly game in Baton Rouge.

After what was one of the worst first halves of football that the Mississippi State football team could have played, the Bulldogs have found themselves only down by a touchdown to LSU. The Bulldogs have played poor football for the most part, but MSU is still holding on.

Most of that is due to the defense stifling everything that LSU has attempted to do so far. The Bulldogs’ are playing great defense but are horribly inept on offense. Nick Fitzgerald has already thrown two picks and only completed 3 of his 9 pass attempts.

The Mississippi State football team has looked this bad on offense on two other occasions this season. Once against Kentucky, also a road game, and then against Florida, which was back at home.

Both of those games are losses and if things don’t change soon, this one will be too.

But for all of the mistakes that State has made so far, the LSU Tigers have been limited in their ability to take advantage of them. Joe Burrow threw an interception of his own and MSU’s defense has played great football.

The stellar play of Montez Sweat and the rest of the defense is keeping the Bulldogs in it, but how much longer can they really last?

Here’s five takeaways from the first half of MSU’s game against LSU.
