The Mississippi State football team has fallen to 4-3 on the year and 1-3 against SEC competition.

Another Mississippi State football game against SEC competition, another failure on the part of the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs were completely stifled on offense against the LSU Tigers. MSU could not keep up with an LSU team that relied on field goals to put the Bulldogs away.

Mississippi State’s offense was beyond incompetent in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It started off with a couple of false starts against the Tigers and then was followed up with the first of Nick Fitzgerald’s four interceptions of the evening.

From there, LSU scored a touchdown and put the game out of reach for the Bulldogs with a score of 7-0. MSU responded with a strong drive that ultimately stalled in LSU’s red zone, but the Bulldogs tacked on a field goal to get things to 7-3.

However, LSU would match that field goal with four of their own throughout the rest of the game to put the Mississippi State football team away 19-3.

The only offense that Joe Moorhead was able to generate in Death Valley came through Fitzgerald’s legs. The Bulldogs were able to move the ball down the field at times on different drives thanks to Fitz’s running ability. But relying on that ultimately limited the Bulldogs and LSU took advantage of that.

MSU has proven to be inept in the second half of SEC games. The Bulldogs aren’t able to adjust to their opponents and the killed them tonight as it did against Kentucky and Florida. Time and time again, LSU was able to get after Fitzgerald and shut MSU’s offense down.
