Vic Schaefer had little patience for a South Carolina fan who bashed a Mississippi State basketball player on Twitter. Schaefer responded with facts and defended Teaira McCowan.

Teaira McCowan is by far one of the best players in the country. In fact, the starting center for the Mississippi State basketball team might just be the best player in the country. At any rate, McCowan earned the honors of being named the SEC preseason player of the year for the upcoming 2018-2019 season.

However, one South Carolina fan wasn’t too happy about that. As the Southeastern Conference tweeted out the announcement that McCowan was the preseason player of the year for this season, a twitter user named “Wade Potter” responded with anger and questioned the selection.

Here’s his tweet:

And of course, here’s a screenshot of that tweet in case it ever gets deleted.

It didn’t take long for Vic Schaefer to find that tweet. And once Schaefer found it, he was going to defend his player. And that’s exactly what Schaefer did. The Houston, Texas native had no problem going after a random twitter user who implied that McCowan, a fellow Texan, isn’t talented enough to be the SEC’s player of the year.

Schaefer knew of every single relevant stat and gave the perfect rebuttal to a twitter troll. And it was a certainly a great retort in the eyes of Mississippi State basketball fans. Schaefer has been known to interact use twitter to share quotes and interact with his players. It’s not unexpected to see him active on the website. However, seeing the head coach of the Bulldogs go after a twitter user bashing one of the best players in the country was a bit unexpected.

It was also certainly enjoyable and welcomed.

Vic Schaefer has endeared himself to this fanbase. Mississippi State basketball fans truly love what Schaefer is doing with his team in Starkville and interactions like this will make them love everything that he does on twitter as well.
