For the seventh time in eight games, the Mississippi State football team will be playing at night during the 2018 football season.

The Mississippi State Football team might want to change their mascot from Bulldogs to night owls. So far in 2018, the Bulldogs have been playing a significant portion of their schedule under the lights.

The only game to date that has not been a night game was the second game of the season. The Mississippi State football team traveled to Kansas State for that game and played it at 11:00 in the morning,

According to the SEC office, the Mississippi State football team will play their seventh game as a night game in 2018 when they welcome the Texas A&M Aggies to Starkville on October 27th at 6 p.m. Central Time. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

Here is the official announcement via the SEC Twitter account.

The biggest television draw for the week is easily Florida and Georgia in the World’s Largest Cocktail Party. Since Florida and Georgia are both off this coming weekend, a Florida win would surprisingly put Kentucky in the driver’s seat for the SEC East title.

Outside of that game and the Mississippi State football team’s game with Texas A&M, the slate of games being offered up isn’t that flashy. Both LSU and Alabama will have their open date on October 27th, so it significantly impacts the television schedule for that weekend.

For both the Bulldogs and the Aggies, their game on October 27th will have a huge impact on how the rest of the season unfolds. If Mississippi State is able to win this weekend in Baton Rouge, the game should be a meeting of top 20 teams. Both teams will be looking to get a win to save what could be a decent season for either football team. The loser will have a hard time avoiding a disappointing season.

The Mississippi State football team does have some business to attend to this weekend first. They’ll take on the LSU Tigers at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
