Mississippi State Football: Bulldogs in the week 8 SEC Power Rankings
Stacking up where the Mississippi State football team falls in this week’s edition of the SEC Power Rankings.
What a week that was! The Mississippi State football team missed out on all the carnage that took place this past weekend in the world of college football.
A number of top teams lost. There were upsets galore. And while all that was going on, the Mississippi State football team was at home getting healthy and preparing for a big road game this weekend with the LSU Tigers.
So without further adieu, here is where the Mississippi State football team and the how the rest of the SEC stacks up with them.
1. Alabama Crimson Tide (7-0, Last Week: #1)
Is Alabama getting bored yet? I would kinda think they are.
2. Florida Gators (6-1, Last Week: #3)
Will Florida stay this high? Probably not, but they’ve done everything they could to earn this spot at this point in the season.
3. LSU Tigers (6-1, Last Week: #4)
I still have lots of questions about LSU, but so far, they have answered every single one of them in a positive manner. That was a butt kicking they just put on Georgia.
4. Georgia Bulldogs (6-1, Last Week: #2)
Georgia is probably going to finish higher than this, but they need to win out if they want to have a chance at making it back to the College Football Playoff
5. Kentucky Wildcats (5-1, Last Week: #5)
Kentucky had the week off, and they are probably very thankful for having that week off after all that took place.
6. Texas A&M Aggies (5-2, Last Week: #6)
Texas A&M holds steady after a very ho-hum win over South Carolina.
7. Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-2, Last Week: #7)
The Mississippi State football team had an extra week to prepare for what will be a big game for them in Baton Rouge this weekend.
8. Ole Miss Rebels (5-2, Last Week: #10)
Ole Miss showed a pulse on defense last week. Only problem is it was against Louisiana Monroe.
9. Tennessee Volunteers (3-3, Last Week: #13)
Is the win over Auburn the kick start the Vols need to rebound? Time will tell, but it might be.
10. Auburn Tigers (4-3, Last Week: #6)
Auburn simply isn’t very good right now. I’m not sure how many games this team can win before the season is over, but six seems like the most at this point.
11. South Carolina Gamecocks (3-3, Last Week: #10)
South Carolina isn’t having the really good year a lot of people thought they would. A finish in the lower half of the SEC East seems like a given at this point.
12. Missouri Tigers (3-3, Last Week: #11)
It’s hard to read too much into a bad loss at Alabama. Everyone gets those these days.
13. Vanderbilt Commodores (3-4, Last Week: #12)
Vanderbilt had Florida on the ropes, but they couldn’t seal the deal this past weekend.
14. Arkansas Razorbacks (1-6, Last Week: #14)
The same thing can be said about Arkansas as Vanderbilt. They could have gotten their first SEC win against Ole Miss if they just had been able to get some more first downs on their next to last possession.
That wraps up the eighth edition of the SEC Power Rankings. Check back next week to see how much change there is after the next set of games.
