After the Mississippi State football team knocked down a top ten opponent, the Bulldogs have earned their way right back into the AP Poll’s top 25 rankings.

Because the Bulldogs knocked down then No. 8 Auburn on Saturday evening, the Mississippi State football team has fought its way back into the AP Poll’s top 25 rankings. After week 6 of the 2018 college football season, the Mississippi State Bulldogs sit at No. 24 in the rankings with a 4-2 overall record and a 1-2 record in SEC play.

Mississippi State’s win on Saturday was impressive in multiple regards. The Bulldogs ran right through Auburn’s incredibly stout rush defense thanks to a tremendous effort from the offensive line as well as Nick Fitzgerald, Kylin Hill, and Aeris Williams.

On the other side of the ball, the Bulldogs defense did a great job of nullifying Jarrett Stidham and keeping the Tigers out of the end zone as Auburn had to settle for three field goals instead.

There’s a few interesting things about the poll’s results this week. First, Texas is back in the top 10. So, yeah, it looks like the Longhorns are actually back after all. Two, it’s hilarious that after Florida beat LSU, the Tigers are still ranked one spot directly above the Gators. In similar fashion, Kentucky is a few spots above Texas A&M and the Auburn Tigers are four spots ahead of Mississippi State. Those last two aren’t as funny as the Florida-LSU situation, but they are interesting.

And finally, the Southeastern Conference is well represented in the rankings. Eight teams from the SEC made it into the Top 25 this week and five of those teams came from the SEC East.
