The Mississippi State football team knocked down the No. 8 Auburn Tigers in incredible fashion tonight

Joe Moorhead got a much needed win for the Mississippi State football team. After the Bulldogs lost two very winnable games in back-to-back weeks, the Mississippi State football team came out and pushed right through Auburn’s strong defensive line for a solid victory. MSU took down the No. 8 team in the nation by a score of 23-9.

The Bulldogs and Tigers slugged it out throughout the entirety of this game, but MSU outlasted Auburn.

Mississippi State and Auburn traded field goals in the first half, but things picked up when Nick Fitzgerald edged into the end zone to end the first half with a score of 13-3. Fitzgerald scored the only other touchdown of the night as he would dash into the end zone to put Auburn away by a score of 23-9.

The Bulldogs out-gained the Tigers with 418 total yards of offense to  304 total yards of offense. MSU was able to outrush the entire Auburn offense as Fitzgerald, Kylin Hill, and Aeris Williams rushed for 349 yards and two touchdowns tonight.

Fitzgerald led the way for the Bulldogs, gaining 195 rushing yards against an incredibly stingy Auburn rush defense. Hill was right behind him with 126 yards on 23 carries, helping MSU move forward.

And even though the Mississippi State football team couldn’t get any sort of production through the air, it really wasn’t needed. The Bulldogs gained 69 passing yards, but the running game was what carried Mississippi State over No. 8 Auburn.

Moorhead, Fitzgerald, and MSU certainly needed this win. This was a great way to bounce back for the Bulldogs after a couple of rough weeks. Fans started to doubt MSU and this was a great response to those doubts.

This won’t answer all of the questions for the Mississippi State football team and it won’t silence all of the noise for Moorhead, but he just guided the Bulldogs beyond the No. 8 team in the nation. That’s a great way for Moorhead to start redeeming himself.
