Mississippi State football’s Nick Fitzgerald and students at Heritage Academy helped grant first grader Ethan Marsh’s wish alongside the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Nick Fitzgerald was a crucial part of granting the wish of a young Mississippi State football fan on Thursday. Yesterday afternoon, Fitzgerald headed over to Heritage Academy down the road in Columbus, Mississippi where first grader Ethan Marsh was waiting.

The only thing is, I don’t think the young Bulldog fan knew exactly what he was waiting for with this. What he was surprised with was the starting quarterback of the Mississippi State football team, an autographed helmet, and the culmination of his wish with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

According to WTVA, the seven-year-old has been battling congenital heart disease. To help make Ethan Marsh’s dream come true, students at Heritage Academy raised money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Their efforts to raise that money were a large contributing factor that made all of this possible.

Ethan Marsh apparently wanted to meet MSU’s Nick Fitzgerald. Ethan Marsh definitely got to meet MSU’s Nick Fitzgerald.

The official Mississippi State football twitter account, @HailStateFB, shared photos and then later video from that meeting. Check out those heartwarming photos below:

Now, go ahead and check out that video right here:

It should be noted that this wasn’t the only dream that the Heritage Academy students made possible. According to that aforementioned WTVA article, the students there also raised money to send Elizabeth King to Disney World. Elizabeth is battling cancer and is almost completely cancer free.

All in all, this is a great story. It’s great that Fitzgerald gave up his time to go meet a young Mississippi State football fan and make his day. It’s also incredibly encouraging that these students at Heritage Academy are raising money to selflessly give back and help others in their community.

Hats off to you, Fitz, for jumping in and helping here. Thanks to all of the students that went out of their way to help make this possible. And of course, thank you to WTVA for sharing this uplifting story.
