That loss was embarrassing for the Mississippi State Bulldogs on multiple levels

Many Mississippi State football fans were touting this as the game that would show that the Bulldogs had moved beyond Dan Mullen. The head coach of the Florida Gators left Starkville after a successful career but left after a rough loss in the Egg Bowl. There was some bad blood between the fanbase and the former head coach.

So, while this loss hurts from the perspective solely of what happened on the field, it also hurts when you consider the bigger picture a bit.

This loss did not happen in a vacuum.

The Mississippi State football team lost to the guy that built this program up. The Mississippi State Bulldogs lost their second game in a year that was supposed to be a special one. This loss could hurt MSU on the recruiting trail.

It was a rather embarrassing loss that could take a toll on this team for a while.
