The Mississippi State football team picked up a commitment from a three-star offensive lineman late last night
It’s safe to say that this past weekend wasn’t exactly the best for the Mississippi State football team. The Bulldogs losing to Kentucky like they did was embarrassing and frustrating. MSU was dominated on the offensive line.
However, some recent news will surely help lift the mood of many Mississippi State football fans.
Last night, when most of us where trying to get some sleep, Joe Moorhead tweeted out that the Bulldogs added another new commitment to their 2019 recruiting class. At 10:43 PM, news broke that the Mississippi State football team picked up a much needed addition to the Bulldogs’ offensive line.
First, Moorhead tweeted this out:
Shortly after that, LaQuinston Sharp, Mississippi State’s newest commit, tweeted this out:
For those that aren’t overly familiar with Sharp, it’s time that you get to know him. Sharp is a three-star commit that is coming out of the junior college ranks. He stands at 6-3 and is 305 pounds according to his recruiting profile over at 247Sports and is a potentially great addition for the Bulldogs.
Sharp is currently with East Mississippi Community College and is originally from Columbus, Mississippi. According to 247Sports, at the moment, he’s considered the No. 2 junior college recruit in the state of Mississippi, the No. 2 junior college offensive guard in the country, and the No. 19 junior college recruit in the country.
That’s a pretty solid addition for the Bulldogs to pick up. The Bulldogs reportedly beat out Florida, Auburn, Arizona, Missouri, Florida Atlantic, and Southeastern Louisiana for Sharp’s commitment. Right now, 247Sports has MSU as the 19th best recruiting class in the country.
Mississippi State is going to need help on the offensive line next season. The Bulldogs’ starting center and right guard, Elgton Jenkins and Deion Calhoun respectively, are both seniors this season. Bringing in a highly touted recruit to come in and reinforce the line once those two are gone is a smart move for Joe Moorhead and his staff to make.
