Nick Fitzgerald is a much improved passer so far

It doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with the level of competition in this game. Yes, Louisiana-Lafayette is a notably weaker opponent than most of MSU’s competition. Yes, the Mississippi State football team is much more talented. And yes, the Bulldogs are playing at home.

Theoretically, all of these factors are playing in here.

But that’s not the entire story. Nick Fitzgerald is completing some really impressive passes and the Bulldog’s receivers are doing a solid job of catching them. Fitzgerald has found several open receivers and placed the ball perfectly.

It’s not just short passes either. Fitzgerald is completing beautifully thrown passes all over the field. Through one half, Fitz has thrown for 171 yards and a touchdown while completing 61.5 percent of his passes.
