The Mississippi State football team claimed victory over the Kansas State Wildcats in a physical test on the road

While Saturday’s game was the first road test of the season for the Mississippi State football team, the Kansas State Wildcats weren’t too difficult of a challenge for the Bulldogs. MSU came out on Saturday and did everything that they needed to in order to claim the road win in convincing fashion.

The entirety of this game was a physical test for MSU, but the first quarter was the perfect microcosm of the game. Saturday’s contest started out with both teams running their quarterbacks right into brick walls as each team stifled and slowed the other on defense.

Both teams did score in the first quarter.

MSU jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to Jace Christmann’s leg knocking a 30 yard field goal attempt through the uprights in Manhattan, Kansas. Kansas State would later respond with a 26 yard field goal of their own.

Then, in the second quarter, the Bulldogs started to pull away thanks to Kylin Hill.

Mississippi State football’s newest star got everyone’s attention with how he performed on Saturday afternoon. Hill pushed MSU ahead with a touchdown reception of 16 yards and then later had himself a 28 yard touchdown run.

The halftime score sat at 17-3 thanks to Hill’s second quarter heroics.

Early on in the third quarter, the Bulldogs continued to wear on Kansas State. Austin Williams caught a 13 yard touchdown pass from Nick Fitzgerald to stretch the lead to 24-3, setting MSU to run away with the game. However, K-State wasn’t done just yet. The Wildcats tried to climb back into it and cut the lead to 24-10 with a touchdown pass of their own.

But MSU’s defense wouldn’t allow for that gap to get any closer and Kylin Hill helped give the Bulldogs a bigger lead. Hill added another touchdown to the scoreboard with a 16 yard run and brought the score to 31-10, which ended up being the final score of the game.

Kylin Hill clearly played incredibly well. He scored 3 touchdowns and then outgained Kansas State on his own with 227 total yards of offense. The Bulldogs’ defense played well with 4 sacks and 8 tackles for loss. MSU’s Erroll Thompson also had an interception.
