The Mississippi State Football team will be playing under the lights in their game against their permanent cross divisional opponent.

The Mississippi State football team is playing well in the early part of the college football season. The Bulldogs are 2-0 and currently ranked 16th in the country.

If the Bulldogs continue to play well, you can expect a decent number of their games to be slated for evening broadcasts. Such will be the case when the Bulldogs take on the Kentucky Wildcats.

The SEC Office announced the game times for Week 4 of the 2018 College football season earlier today. The Bulldogs will be playing at 6 p.m. on September 22nd when it takes on the Wildcats.

Here is the official announcement from the SEC Twitter account.

We are still waiting on a television designation. The game will air on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU. The channel designation will be made after the games have been played on September 15th.

My guess is it will either be ESPN or ESPN2. Both teams should be 3-0 when they take the field that week. The only question is what they will do about Florida and Tennessee

Florida and Tennessee are the bigger names and normally would automatically get the ESPN designation. But both teams are struggling this year or at least expected to struggle and it might not have the interest that it usually creates.

The Mississippi State football team could be a top 15 team when that game is played and might tempt the executives at ESPN to go ahead and put the Bulldogs on ESPN. It would also be a huge test for Kentucky and could be a nice atmosphere with Kentucky trying to prove they are for real after they beat Florida this past weekend for the first time in 31 years.
