Nick Fitzgerald passes Dak for Mississippi State football record

Nick Fitzgerald claimed his spot at the top of the Mississippi State football record for quarterback rushing yards
Nick Fitzgerald’s first game back for the Mississippi State football team has had its fair share of ups and downs. But, for the most part, it’s been a pretty good performance for someone who had his ankle spun sideways back in November and is now adjusting to a brand new offensive system.
As it stands at the time of writing this, Nick Fitzgerald currently has 8 completions in 20 attempts for 118 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception. But, as is customary for Fitzgerald, it’s his performance rushing that is notable and has helped him set a brand new record for the Mississippi State football team.
At the moment, Fitzgerald has 16 carries for 135 yards. Those rushing yards have gotten Nick Fitzgerald past Dak Prescott and put him in sole possession of No. 1 in the Mississippi State football record books for quarterback rushing yards in a career.
And Fitz isn’t anywhere close to being done just yet.
This is his first game back and Fitzgerald has at least 10 more games through the rest of the season should everything go as it should based on normal circumstances. He’ll have plenty of chances to gain more yards as the season wears on to expand his lead with this new record of his.
This first start for Nick Fitzgerald in Joe Moorhead’s system hasn’t exactly been the best for him, mostly because of missed opportunities in the passing game. But, things are good on the ground for MSU and the Bulldogs should get better through the air. Congrats on the record, Nick Fitzgerald.
