The Mississippi State football team hammered Kansas State and Twitter responded accordingly.
After the Mississippi State football team played basically an exhibition game in the first week of the season, the team kicked things up a few notches in the competition department this week. The Bulldogs played on the road against a Power 5 opponent when they took on Kansas State.
Despite the increased level of competition, the result for the Mississippi State football team was not that much different from last week, The Bulldogs came out a bit sluggish to start, but pulverized Kansas State 31-10 on Saturday.
Despite the win, there are plenty of things for the Bulldogs to work on. There are still plenty of issues in the passing game, and the team committed a bunch of penalties.
But Kylin Hill had his coming out party today. Hill had 211 yards rushing on 17 carries and two touchdowns. Kylin Hill also caught a pass for a touchdown and 16 additional yards for a total of 225 yards and three touchdowns.
And as always, Twitter was lively during the Mississippi State football game. Here were some of the tweets that caught my attention while I was watching the game.
Much has been said about the defense of Mississippi State. They had a really good game again today. Here are some of the tweets about the defense.
Make Errol Thompson a receiver.

Errol Thompson currently has the best catch of the game.

The MSU turnover dog collar has arrived.
— Tyler Horka (@tbhorka) September 8, 2018
You gotta feel for K-State’s OL, folks. They’re doing the best they can.
— Maroon & White Nation (@MandWNation) September 8, 2018
Leo Lewis! Welcome back!
— Justin M. Strawn (@JustinMStrawn) September 8, 2018
"No one was blocking Montez Sweat" is not something you want a play-by-play guy to say when your team is on offense.
— Bob Carskadon (@bobcarskadon) September 8, 2018
K-State QB will be sore in the morning 😂😂
— Johnthan Banks (@JBanks_27) September 8, 2018
Nick Fitzgerald had a bit of an up and down day. He completed just 11 of 27 pass attempts for 154 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. But he also ran the ball 19 times for 159 yards. Twitter had things to say about him.
Nick Fitzgerald getting no help from his receivers.
— Will Cain (@willcain) September 8, 2018
Looks like Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald is doing just fine without Dan Mullen in his corner. He has 135 rushing yards vs Kansas State which gives him 15 100-yard rushing games. Second at State to Anthony Dixon (17) via @ESPNStatsInfo

Fitz connects with Austin Williams on a play-action pass for a 13-yard scoring strike.
— Tyler Horka (@tbhorka) September 8, 2018
It's quiet here. Very.
23-3 MSU. Play is under review, because of course it is.
Oh, and ESPN for some reason decided to show his gruesome injury from the Egg Bowl again. You know people had things to say about that.
Hey @espn, why on earth did you choose to show the Nick Fitzgerald injury again?
— Brandon Walker (@BFW) September 8, 2018
And then there were the Kylin Hill tweets. And man were there a bunch of those.
Kylin Hill. Man. That dude is good.
— Bob Carskadon (@bobcarskadon) September 8, 2018
Hey I don’t know maybe let’s give Kylin the ball, he did p well the first time we did that
— Maroon & White Nation (@MandWNation) September 8, 2018
I love my hometown but Kylin Hill. Geez.
— Brandon Walker (@BFW) September 8, 2018
Stop me if you've heard this: Touchdown Kylin Hill. He was wide open and Fitz hit him.
— Tyler Horka (@tbhorka) September 8, 2018
10-3 MSU, 14:20 second quarter.
KYLIN HILL, THE PRIDE OF COLUMBUS.
— Daniel Black (@danielcblack) September 8, 2018
He's a powerful runner and has good speed, but as much as anything, Hill's ability in the passing game is a huge part of him being the every-down back.
— Bob Carskadon (@bobcarskadon) September 8, 2018
HEISM8N

Kylin Hill

177 yards from 9 carries.
— Daniel Black (@danielcblack) September 8, 2018
Good effing lord.
P.A. is playing 'When the Levee Breaks' here. Hate to tell 'em but that levee broke last quarter with K.Hill doing the bulldozing.
— David H Murray (@DawgsBiteMag) September 8, 2018
I call number 8 for K-State IPA cuz he has some HOPS
— Maroon & White Nation (@MandWNation) September 8, 2018
And then there were tweets that really don’t fit into any category. So here is the best of the rest as far as I could tell.
Oh we scrappin now fam
— Maroon & White Nation (@MandWNation) September 8, 2018
What in the world was that overreaction by the K State offensive line? This game is oddly chippy to be the first quarter between two teams that don't know each other at all
— Bob Carskadon (@bobcarskadon) September 8, 2018
Blown call: the rulebook says there must be “intentional forward movement” of the arm for it to be a forward pass. Definitely was not intentional. Call on field should have been confirmed. #HailState #KState
— Matt Wyatt (@RadioWyatt) September 8, 2018
Kansas State needs something easy and manageable to stay in the game with Mississippi State, like your average 21 play, 14 minute touchdown drive to run out the clock
— BUM CHILLUPS AKA SPENCER HALL (@edsbs) September 8, 2018
24-3 MSU
— Tyler Horka (@tbhorka) September 8, 2018
10:18 left in the third quarter. KSU won last week with a fourth-quarter comeback over South Dakota.
Relevant info: Mississippi State is not South Dakota.
Pretty sure Bill Snyder just wrote a letter and gave it to Cam Dantzler.
— Daniel Black (@danielcblack) September 8, 2018
And he gave him a Werther's Original. https://t.co/SHeUU7Am1m
— Justin M. Strawn (@JustinMStrawn) September 8, 2018
The kid who caught that Mississippi State TD looks like he could fix your transmission in 20 minutes.
— Tom Fornelli (@TomFornelli) September 8, 2018
Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" was one of the text in your vote songs. Of course it won. MSU fans seem to like it.
— Logan Lowery (@loganlowery) September 8, 2018
Good win.
— Daniel Black (@danielcblack) September 8, 2018
We’re gonna need to improve dramatically through the air.
We need to get more disciplined.
Regardless, good win.
So there were some the best tweets that I saw during the big win by the Mississippi State football team over Kansas State. It’s always fun to see ho people react to what’s happening while the game is unfolding.
