The refs inexplicably overturned a fumble, taking the ball away from the Mississippi State football team

The Mississippi State football team is in the midst of what is currently an incredibly tough game against the Kansas State Wildcats. The Bulldogs are being challenged and have made quite a few penalties and several mistakes so far, but one big play that Leo Lewis made was nullified by the referees.

And it probably should not have been overturned.

Late in the first quarter, the Kansas State Wildcats were driving down the field against the Mississippi State football team. The Bulldogs had a few off plays on the drive and Kansas State kept moving down the field. But, MSU seemingly stopped the drive once Leo Lewis and Gerri Green came together to make a great play.

Leo Lewis got right to Kansas State’s quarterback, dislodging the ball from the Wildcats’ quarterback’s hands. Gerri Green then secured it, getting the ball for the Mississippi State football team.

You can watch a clip of the play right here.

And then it was given right back to Kansas State by the referees.

After a lengthy review process by the refs, Kansas State then followed that up by getting a field goal to tie the game at 3-3. That changed the game quite a bit at the time.

The Mississippi State football team is currently fighting with the Wildcats. The Bulldogs need to execute better and play more efficiently. Dropped passes and penalties could keep Kansas State in this game. The Bulldogs certainly don’t want that. However, when MSU does make plays and it’s actually a fumble, it can’t just be inexplicably overturned like this.
