Nick Fitzgerald has room to improve and that’s okay

Nick Fitzgerald’s first start during the 2018 Mississippi State football season wasn’t his greatest performance ever. But, it’s important to contextualize all of that. He’s learning a new offensive system, he didn’t get to practice much in the offseason, and this is his first game since November.

And he dealt with all of that while playing on the road.

Nick Fitzgerald needs to improve, but that’s fine. He probably will as this season continues. In his first start with Joe Moorhead as his head coach, Fitzgerald completed 11 of 27 passes for 154 yards, two scores, and a pick. On the ground, Fitz ran for 159 yards off of 19 carries.

He did alright. He set a new Mississippi State football record. He still needs to improve. He probably will.
