Mississippi State Football Holds Steady in Associated Press Top 25
The Mississippi State football team did not have any movement in the Associated Press Top 25 after their dominant win over Stephen F. Austin.
The most recent Associated Press Football Top 25 was released earlier today. The Bulldogs entered the season ranked as the 18th best team in the country. According to the writers of the Associated Press, the Mississippi State football team is still the 18th best team in the country.
The Mississippi State football team saw two teams in front of them in the poll fall behind them this week. The Miami Hurricanes went from the 8th ranked team in the country, and they fell to the 22nd ranked team in the country after their humbling loss to the LSU Tigers.
The Michigan Wolverines also had a steep fall, but it was not nearly as steep as Miami’s was. The Wolverines went from being the 14th best team in the country to the 21st best team in the country after they were humbled themselves by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The reason the Mississippi State football team did not move up in the rankings though is because two teams behind them made big jumps in the poll. Those two teams are now ahead of Mississippi State.
The LSU Tigers jumped from number 25 to number 11 in the country after their convincing win over the Miami Hurricanes. They had the biggest jump of any team in the poll.
The Virginia Tech Hokies also made a big jump as well. They went from the 20th ranked team all the way up the 12th ranked team.
The jump by LSU isn’t that surprising. The Tigers beat the Hurricanes, who were ranked number 8 at the time, and they are LSU. The voters usually look for a reason to put LSU higher up in the poll, and they got what they needed on Sunday evening.
The Hokies jump was surprising. Virginia Tech beat a team only one spot ahead of them in last week’s poll.
Regardless of how the poll shaped up, Mississippi State football remains ranked. And so long as they are, we’ll keep you updated with the release of each new poll.
