The Mississippi State football team will get to start the 2018 college football season tonight

Mississippi State football officially starts today. The Bulldogs are ready to get things going and, well, the rest of us are too. Mississippi State’s offseason has been an interesting one, but the football season is actually here and we get to watch it today.

The Mississippi State football team is looking for greatness in 2018. Joe Moorhead has been embracing culture in the South, changing MSU’s culture, and is looking to elevate the program from being simply good to truly great.

That’s all difficult to do, but it isn’t impossible.

Moorhead has repeatedly spoken of championships and reaching that next level for this football program. Mississippi State has its sights set on winning at the highest level in the Southeastern Conference and the country. The Bulldogs want their road to end with a championship parade down main street in Starkville.

Whether or not their road ends there is to be determined. More than likely, given everything the Bulldogs would have to go through to get there, the 2018 Mississippi State football team won’t be able to get there.

But that’s where they’re aiming. That’s where they want their journey to take them this season.

Regardless of how far down that path they get, the 2018 college football season should be a great one for the Bulldogs. Mississippi State is favored in 10 of their 12 games by ESPN’s Football Power Index. The Bulldogs have a realistic road to nine wins this season.
