The Mississippi State football team was well represented on the 2018 preseason coaches All-SEC teams

Mississippi State football had several names listed out on the 2018 preseason coaches All-SEC teams. A total of eight different Bulldogs found a place on the preseason list with two players making it to the first team, one the second team, and then five on the third team.

Making it onto the coaches All-SEC first team was Jeffery Simmons and Montez Sweat. Their placement here shouldn’t be all that shocking as they are clearly two of the best defensive linemen in the country and will look to create plenty of chaos this season up front and in opponents’ backfields.

On the second team was Mark McLaurin. McLaurin has flown under the radar for some, but he’s a quick and speedy safety that can make plays all over the field. He’ll likely benefit from how good the Mississippi State football team’s pass rush will be this season as quarterbacks will be hurried into poor decisions and make risky throws.

On the offensive side of the third team comes Darryl Williams and Deion Calhoun from the offensive line. They’ve been consistent and powerful, protecting Nick Fitzgerald incredibly well last season. Aeris Williams also made it onto the offensive side of the third team after rushing for over 1,000 yards last season, in part thanks to Williams, Calhoun, and the rest of the offensive line.

Leo Lewis and Jamal Peters were on the defensive side of the third team. Both are entering into what could be really big years for them if they continue to develop and grow. There’s plenty of talent and support around them, which could cause offenses to forget that they are there.

The Mississippi State football team could be really, really good this season. The amount of respect that the Bulldogs are getting from several different sources and outlets has been great to see this offseason.
