Nick Fitzgerald is getting recognized for his work off the Mississippi State football field and time spent helping others
Over the past few seasons, we’ve seen Mississippi State football players spend time helping others in the community. It has been a common occurrence in Starkville to see a Mississippi State Bulldog find a way to help someone else.
Just a couple of years ago, Brandon Holloway’s name was thrown in consideration for the Allstate AFCA Good Works team.
Now, Nick Fitzgerald is getting that same recognition and consideration.
Per AFCA Insider:
"The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® has been one of the most esteemed honors in college football for more than 25 years. The student-athletes who are nominated for this award not only demonstrate a unique dedication to community service and desire to make a positive impact on the lives around them, but they also show tremendous perseverance as well as the ability to overcome personal struggles and come out victorious against all odds."
And that description certainly sounds like it would fit Nick Fitzgerald pretty well. Fitzgerald is currently one of 169 college football athletes nominated for the prestigious honor, but he might have a compelling case for it by the time it is all said and done.
According to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team’s press release, Fitzgerald has spent time working with Read Across America at elementary schools in Starkville. Fitz has also visited the Blair Batson Children’s hospital to visit patients there and volunteers with the Salvation Army’s red kettle campaign.

Nick Fitzgerald has accomplished quite a bit with the Mississippi State football team, but there’s plenty more that he can accomplish. Through it all, he’s had to work hard and now he’s having to persevere through a horrific ankle injury. There’s plenty of compelling cases amongst Fitzgerald’s competition, but he makes a pretty good one himself.
