Mississippi State Podcast: Can Nick Fitzgerald be Mississippi State’s first Heisman winner in 2018?

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have never had a Heisman trophy winner. In over 100 years of college football in Starkville, Mississippi, there hasn’t been one single Bulldog football player to bring home the most coveted hardware in all of college football.

Granted, the Heisman trophy has only been around since 1935, but the point remains.

No Bulldog has ever won it. And now, Nick Fitzgerald might have a shot at winning it. And that’s what we’re here to discuss. Can Fitzgerald really do it? What would he need to do to cement his name as a college football legend for the rest of time?

The most recent episode of this Mississippi State podcast, the Maroon and White Audible, is here to discuss that. Follow along with MaWA on iTunes or Google Play Music. You can also find every episode of the Maroon and White Audible on Spreaker.

Will Fitz do it? How much of a shot does he really have this year? If anyone associated with Mississippi State were to really have a shot at actually winning the Heisman, Nick Fitzgerald probably has some of the best odds ever.

Fitzgerald has an outside shot. He’s a dark horse candidate right now. Still, even dark horse candidates have a theoretical shot at winning it.
