Mississippi State Football vs Michigan 2010

2010 was a big year for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. It was Dan Mullen’s second season in Starkville and he had just won eight games in the regular season including a couple of other wins that are on this list.

As the Bulldogs moved into the 2010 bowl season, they were paired up with a traditional college football powerhouse in the Michigan Wolverines. Michigan was in a down year at the end of the Rich Rod era, but they were still a notable and high profile opponent that had more name recognition than the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

That’s one huge reason why this game is so important for Dan Mullen’s legacy in Starkville.

Mississippi State didn’t just beat the Michigan Wolverines. Mullen’s team absolutely dominated them. Michigan actually held a lead over MSU at the end of the first quarter, but that lead didn’t last very long.

With State being down 10-14 after one quarter, the Bulldogs continued to push against the Wolverines, wearing them out in the process. An explosive second quarter put MSU ahead 31-14 at half time and the Bulldogs never looked back.
