Mississippi State Football vs Auburn 2014

This is arguably the single greatest moment in Mississippi State football history. This is arguably the best win that the Bulldogs have ever achieved.

This game was Dan Mullen’s biggest win during his time in the Maroon and White. It was his crowning achievement with the Bulldogs. For the first time in Mississippi State’s history, the Bulldogs were propelled to number one.

After this game, the Mississippi State made it to the top place in the AP poll for the first time ever. Mississippi State football was the number one team in the nation and had earned it with three consecutive weeks of incredibly important wins.

The Bulldogs fought and clawed their way to the top. MSU overcame the No. 8 LSU Tigers on the road thanks to a couple of herculean efforts from Dak Prescott and Josh Robinson. Then, the Bulldogs blew out the No. 6 Texas A&M Aggies. And finally, Mississippi State knocked off the No. 2 ranked Auburn Tigers to complete the three game stretch against top 10 teams.

That led to Mississippi State football earning the No. 1 ranking in the AP poll for the first time ever. MSU was also the top ranked team in the inaugural College Football Playoff rankings.
