Mississippi State’s Defensive Line Will Be One Of The Best In The Country This Season

There’s little reason to doubt that the Mississippi State football team will truly have one of the best defensive lines in the country. With the top end talent and mixture of depth that the Bulldogs feature, the SEC’s offensive lines are will absolutely need to be careful.

Otherwise, they will find their quarterbacks sacked, their running backs flattened, and their offenses nullified entirely.

Jeffery Simmons and Montez Sweat were two of the best defensive linemen in the country a year ago. Sweat was one of the SEC’s leaders in sacks last season with 10.5 while Jeffery Simmons racked up a total of 12.0 tackles for loss last year.

Adding to that will be Gerri Green, who is making the move from linebacker to defensive line, and Chauncey Rivers, who is fully eligible to play football this season. Both are expected to make big plays as that is what they are capable of. Green has 11.0 tackles for loss last season and Rivers was considered a phenomenal defensive lineman at the junior college level.
