Austin Williams And Devonta Jason Provide Natural Deep Threats At Receiver

Mississippi State football has needed to find a way to open up the passing game and cut through defenses. One part of a possible answer was on the roster last year waiting for his redshirt season to end. The other part of a possible answer is just now able to start his college football career in Starkville.

Mississippi State and Joe Moorhead will have full access to be able to use Austin Williams and Devonta Jason this season. Both players have had a big spring. Both players can certainly help the Bulldogs improve the passing game and can do so for a long time as their college careers are just getting started.

Devonta Jason is a 6-3 and 215 pound freshman from New Orleans. He’s tall, built to compete with the best defensive backs on the field, and is solid enough to battle with the SEC’s cornerbacks.

Austin Williams is a 6-3 and 205 pound redshirt freshman from Ocean Springs. Like Jason, he’s tall, can play slot or outside as a receiver, and can take off downfield keeping opposing defenses on their toes.

MSU should get both of them active and on the field, especially considering the struggles of the receiving corps last season. That should intrigue plenty of MSU fans this year.
