The Mississippi State baseball team absolutely dominated North Carolina in the College World Series

The Mississippi State baseball team absolutely thumped the North Carolina Tar Heels today! The Bulldogs downed the North Carolina Tar Heels 12-2 after phenomenal pitching from Konnor Pilkington and Cole Gordon along with incredibly clutch hits from Jordan Westburg and company.

This Mississippi State baseball game wasn’t alway a total blowout. In fact, the Bulldogs relied heavily upon Konnor Pilkington today. Pilkington threw 6.0 innings and only allowed a couple of runs in that process. Through that, Pilk struck out 4 batters and gave Mississippi State a chance to go and win this game.

After that, Cole Gordon came in and threw the rest of the game. In 3.0 innings pitched, Gordon struck out a pair of batters and didn’t allow a single run today. The duo of Pilkington and Gordon absolutely nullified one of the best offenses in the nation.

Still, thankfully, Pilkington and Gordon received plenty of run support. Today, Jordan Westburg, the king of the Rally Banana, hit a total of SEVEN RBIs.

The freshman knocked a grand slam in the 2nd inning to push Mississippi State baseball ahead 4-1. Then, in the midst of a phenomenal 8th inning that included EIGHT RUNS being scored, Westburg cleared the bases again with a three-RBI double.

The Bulldogs will now get plenty of rest. Mississippi State will play again on Friday, giving MSU plenty of time to rest up and get ready for their next opponent. This is as good of a position as Mississippi State has been in this year. The Bulldogs aren’t fighting to get back into things. No, Mississippi State baseball is leading the pack in the 2018 College World Series.
