Mississippi State Baseball vs North Carolina College World Series Game Delayed By Weather

The Mississippi State baseball team didn’t get to face off against North Carolina tonight

The NCAA moved back a game in the 2018 College World Series. To be specific, it’s the 6th game of the 2018 College World Series. And, well, as it turns out, that game would have been between the Mississippi State baseball team and the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The Bulldogs and Tar Heels were originally slated to play each other Monday evening, after the elimination game between the Oregon State Beavers and the Washington Huskies. Oregon State and Washington just finished their game, and Washington is heading home, but MSU doesn’t get to play tonight.

The reason that Oregon State and Washington’s game, which started at 1:00 pm central time, finished after 9:00 pm central time, is due to some truly awful weather. In total, the weather delay lasted well over four hours and extended the game far longer than it ever should have gone.

That’s just how things work sometimes.

On the humanity front, hopefully everyone in the Omaha area is alright. The storms moving through the area are bringing some tornadoes and plenty of reasons to be concerned about personal well-being.

On the college baseball front, hopefully this weather doesn’t continue for much longer and derail more games. The College World Series is a great event to enjoy and go through, but it’s already crazy enough as is. With everything going on within the tournament, there’s no need to add any other sources of craziness into the recipe.

The only bright side from this is that the players and fans are able to get another night of rest. One downside from that bright side is that this rest potentially benefits the North Carolina Tar Heels more than the Mississippi State baseball team.
