2018 College World Series Scoreboard Thinks Mississippi State Baseball’s Mascot Is The “Rebels”

Well, someone else has mistaken the identity of Mississippi State. This time, it happened to the Mississippi State baseball team.

The Mississippi State baseball team is in the College World Series for the 10th time. That means that the Bulldogs have been in Omaha a total of nine times before this college baseball season even began. Mississippi State is well known in the world of college baseball.

MSU even competed for the national championship just five years ago. That series was in Omaha. It was played at TD Ameritrade Park.

That still didn’t stop the scoreboard from having a botched label on it.

According to the scoreboard at TD Ameritrade Park on Saturday, the “Mississippi State Rebels” played against the Washington Huskies.

That’s not a joke. It’s a mistake that happens far too frequently.

This is not the first mistake of its kind. Far from it. Many people in the past have confused Mississippi State and Ole Miss. It has happened far too often over the years.

It’s not just Ole Miss that experiences this sort of mishap with Mississippi State. Occasionally, the Texas A&M Aggies get this same sort of treatment. It wasn’t that long ago that ESPN seemingly thought that Mississippi State was Texas A&M. Also, Mississippi State was recently mistaken for A&M at a Houston, Texas area sporting goods store.

It’s a frustrating occurrence that’ll never seem to stop. Mississippi State and Ole Miss aren’t the same school The Bulldogs are not the Rebels. Neither school happens to be tied to Texas A&M, either. But, well, we seem to be cursed with a constant stream of mistakes of this kind. It’ll never seem to end.

Hopefully, though, it won’t happen again to this Mississippi State baseball team while they’re still in Omaha for this 2018 College World Series. Hopefully the Mississippi State baseball team will be there for quite some time as well.
