It’s almost time for the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska

It’s that time of year again. The College World Series is just days away and will begin this weekend!

As every Super Regional was wrapped up this past week, there are now only eight teams remaining to compete in the 2018 NCAA Baseball Tournament. That’s all that get to make a trip to Omaha after this thing started with 64.

When the NCAA Tournament started, things were set in a double elimination format at various different regional locations. A total of four teams competed to try and get out of the Regional and go compete in a three game series in a Super Regional set between the winner of those two Regionals.

Now, the NCAA Tournament returns back to that double elimination format.

Each side of the College World Series Bracket will feature four teams. They’ll compete against each other just like the Regionals were set up. Whoever wins their side of the bracket will then go on and compete against the winner from the other side.

So, basically, Mississippi State has to clear a bracket with Washington, Oregon State, and North Carolina to be able to even compete for the national title in a three game series.

Check out a full bracket here:

The Mississippi State baseball team will face off with Washington in the Bulldogs’ first game there. The winner of that game will go on to play the winner of Oregon State and North Carolina. Similarly, the two losers of those first round games will face each other in an elimination game.

Mississippi State baseball doesn’t have an easy road to get to the final series of the season, but the Bulldogs didn’t have an easy road to get to Omaha. Now, the Bulldogs are here and they have a chance at winning everything.
