The Mississippi State baseball team is set to take on Vanderbilt in the 2018 NCAA Baseball Tournament
2018 has been an up and down season for the Mississippi State baseball team. The Bulldogs have experienced every possible emotion this year. But now, it might all pay off in the NCAA Baseball Tournament. Mississippi State is in Nashville, Tennessee for a Super Regional.
MSU is two games away from Omaha and the Super Regional starts tonight.
The Vanderbilt Commodores have been great at home this year. Currently, Vandy is 22-9 in Nashville this season. That presents an interesting and difficult challenge for the Bulldogs in this Super Regional.
Mississippi State and Vanderbilt get the 2018 Nashville Super Regional started tonight. Game one of the Super Regional will begin at 7:00 pm central time on ESPN2. The Bulldogs are getting Ethan Small out on the mound to start the series.
Game two of the 2018 Nashville Super Regional will kickoff on Saturday at 8:30 central time. If game one tonight goes well for MSU, then the Bulldogs will be in perfect position to go out and try to claim a trip to Omaha on Saturday.
Otherwise, MSU will be aiming to stay alive and force a game three.

And speaking of game three, it will get going on Sunday at 5:00 pm central time. That is, if it is needed of course. It’s possible that the Mississippi State baseball team and the Vanderbilt Commodores won’t need a game three.
If that is the case, hopefully MSU will have already locked up a College World Series spot by that point. Get a look at the bracket here.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are in a great position right now. Yes, it’d be nice if MSU was playing at home this weekend. Still, a team that was 14-15 at one point this season is now playing for a College World Series appearance. That’s a pretty big turnaround.
