Mississippi State Baseball Is Also Sending Jacob Billingsley to The Astros
The Houston Astros must have been interested in Mississippi State baseball’s pitchers in this draft. With a late round pick, the 2017 World Series Champs selected Jacob Billingsley, the Sunday starter for the 2018 Mississippi State baseball team.
Getting selected this late doesn’t guarantee anything in regards to a future in pro ball, but it does mean that Billingsley at least has a chance to move forward. And the Astros are a great organization to move forward with.
Billingsley hasn’t been all that great this season, but he does have 16 starts this year. His 5.05 ERA isn’t something that indicates a quick rise to the majors by any means. Instead, he’ll have to continue to work and prove himself if he decides to go on with the Stros. But, he’s got a chance. And that chance came in the form of a pick in the 32nd round.
