The NCAA Tournament selection committee is sending the Mississippi State baseball team to Tennessee

The Mississippi State baseball team is in a Super Regional for the third straight season. The Bulldogs survived the Tallahassee Regional, beat Oklahoma twice to win it, and are moving on in the NCAA Baseball Tournament. Now, the Bulldogs are bound for Nashville to play in the Nashville Super Regional.

The Tallahassee Regional was paired up with the Clemson Regional, which set up for an opportunity for Florida State and Clemson to face each other in a Super Regional should both teams make it through their respective Regional.

However, neither team made it through.

Samford beat FSU to hand them their first loss and then Mississippi State bounced the Seminoles thanks to a three-run walk off home run. Vanderbilt beat Clemson in the winner’s bracket, forcing Clemson to play in an elimination game. The Tigers won, advanced on to play the Commodores again, and then promptly lost to Vanderbilt again, this time by a score of 19-6.

That led to MSU and Vandy both advancing. Now, the Mississippi State Bulldogs and Vanderbilt Commodores will face each other. This time in Nashville.

The Nashville Super Regional is one of three that exclusively features SEC teams. Florida and Auburn will play each other in Gainesville and then Arkansas and South Carolina will battle in Fayetteville.
