The Mississippi State baseball team is heading to the Tallahassee Regional as the Number Two Seed

The Mississippi State baseball team has officially made it into the NCAA Tournament!

The Bulldogs are going to a somewhat familiar regional as they are headed out east to play in the Tallahassee Regional where they will be the second seed. Mississippi State’s baseball team will be joined in Tallahassee by No. 3 seed Oklahoma and No. 4 seed Samford. Florida State is, of course, the host and the No. 1 seed in the regional.

FSU earned their way to being the 7th National Seed overall in the NCAA Tournament this year after a 43-17 run in their regular season schedule.

The last time that the Mississippi State baseball team was back during the 2012 baseball season. As it turns out, MSU was the 2nd seed back then too. That trip down to FSU didn’t end so well for the Bulldogs as Mississippi State fell to then 3rd seed Samford twice to get eliminated from the NCAA Tournament.

The 2018 Mississippi State baseball season has been up and down all year. It’s been difficult to predict exactly how this team will play during any given week. However, the Bulldogs have shown that they can win against any given team. Mississippi State is 9-1 against the No. 1, No. 4, and No. 5 National Seeds this season.

Mississippi State is also hoping to be able to make a run through the postseason and shock many. This is a team that most wrote off early in the year because of a scandal off the field and poor play on it. But, now the Bulldogs have a chance. That’s all they need. And now we get to see just how far they can go.
