Mississippi State Football 2018 Opponent Spring Recap: Kansas State

Kansas State Is Searching For A Definitive Answer At Quarterback
The Kansas State Wildcats had to play quite a few quarterbacks in the 2017 college football season. Three quarterbacks threw at least 80 passes last year for the Wildcats because of injury issues that plagued Kansas State throughout the year.
Bill Snyder’s team has a couple of solid options. He just needs to find one.
Last year, Jesse Ertz led the Wildcats in passing. Ertz threw for 930 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions while completing 55 percent of his passes.
Behind Ertz comes the two that are battling for the starting spot this year. Alex Delton completed 57.6 percent of his passes for 637 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Delton is also a solid rushing threat with 500 yards and 8 touchdowns off of 100 carries.
Then there’s Skylar Thompson. Thompson passed for 689 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions as he completed 61.4 percent of his passes. He also ran for 267 yards and three touchdowns last year.
All together, the trio of quarterbacks combined to throw for 2,256 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. On the ground, the three ran for 1103 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Those are notable numbers and shows that the Bulldogs can not take whoever is running this offense lightly. The fact that Kansas State and Bill Snyder went through three quarterbacks and still had a fairly productive offense is worth discussing.
But Ertz is gone now. Snyder needs a new quarterback and, though he’s still got time to pick one, he should probably do it soon.
