Honorable Mentions:

Mississippi State softball claiming the Ole Miss series

Any season in which you can take down your rival is probably at least a decent season. And, well, when you’re adding a rivalry series win to what has been a pretty solid season, then that’s just even better.

That’s what this is here.

Claiming the Ole Miss series isn’t all that impressive. The Rebels, like Mississippi State, were toward the back of the pack in the Southeastern Conference this season. But, the win was important for recruiting in state prospects and for moving the team forward.

It doesn’t hurt that taking two games from the Rebels helped the Mississippi State softball team lock up their spot in the SEC Tournament.

Holly Ward setting a new single-season record for shutouts in a season

Senior Holly Ward has been incredible for the Mississippi State softball team throughout the entirety of her career. However, her senior season was particularly special as Ward helped lead the Bulldogs throughout the year.

Ward was the best pitcher for the Bulldogs this season and showed it every time that she took the circle for MSU. Mississippi State had 19 shutouts this year, a new record for the Bulldogs. Holly Ward had nine of those.

Mia Davidson setting a new single-season home run record

We’re going to discuss Mia Davidson a bit in this article. And, well, we’re going to talk about home runs a bit too. Why is that? Well, Mia Davidson hits a ton of home runs and leads the Bulldogs in 2018 from that.

On top of that, as a freshman, Davidson has set a single-season record for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. She’ll continue to improve and develop as a softball player.
