Elijah MacNamee’s three-run home run gave the Mississippi State baseball team a lead over the No. 1 Florida Gators

The Mississippi State baseball team continues to make plays when it needs to against the top ranked Florida Gatos. In the top of the 1st inning, the Florida Gators claimed a 1-0 lead over the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Then, shortly following that, Jake Mangum hit a home run off of the first pitch he saw to tie things up.

After Mangum’s home run, Rowdey Jordan hit a single. Tanner Allen came in, following that up with a single of his own. Both Jordan and Allen were able to advance on to scoring position after a throw from Florida.

With two on base and only one out, Elijah MacNamee stepped up to the plate and stepped up for the Bulldogs. The Mississippi State baseball team needed a big hit from MacNamee and he certainly did more than that.

On the second pitch that MacNamee saw, he swung and hit a three-run homer over the left field fence to give Mississippi State an early three run advantage. MacNamee brought both Jordan and Allen home with one swing. The Bulldogs held a solid 4-1 lead over the No. 1 Florida Gators early on.

Now, Mississippi State is in a tough game with the No. 1 Gators. Mississippi State’s lead has been cut down to 1 one run, but the Bulldogs are still on top of Florida right now.

If Mississippi State can go through and claim this win, it’ll close off a solid weekend and will give MSU a complete sweep over the Florida Gators. Another win over a top five team would build Mississippi State’s postseason resume even further.
