Now, Can Nick Fitzgerald Win It In 2018?

It’s going to be tough. Nobody is exactly certain as to how good Fitz will be after that ankle injury in the 2017 Egg Bowl. On top of that, Fitzgerald will have to play at a level that he hasn’t shown just yet.

To add to that, Fitzgerald will need the Bulldogs to win a lot. Mississippi State would likely need to be at least the second best team in the SEC West. And, even then, that might not be good enough. It’s possible that the Mississippi State football team would need to be the second best team in the SEC for him to truly be considered.

Given that Alabama, Georgia, A&M, Auburn, Florida, LSU, and South Carolina (among other teams) are also in the SEC, they’d likely like to have a word about that.

Nick Fitzgerald could certainly garner Heisman attention this year. The Bulldogs return plenty of talent surrounding him and should have enough on the defensive side of things to win around 9 games this year.

Right now, it’s hard to predict that Nick Fitzgerald will play at a Heisman level in 2018. When looking at his size, speed, and throwing arm strength, it’s easy to see why some would consider him a dark horse Heisman candidate. But, still, Fitzgerald will need to improve his level of play in 2018 considerably to get this consideration. Can he do it? Possibly. Will he do it? That’s to be determined.
