What Should The Overall Expectations Of The Bulldogs Be In 2018?

The expectations for this program should be raised. Yes, Joe Moorhead has come to Starkville for his first attempt at being the head coach of a FBS program. But, that doesn’t mean that he’s a first time head coach and he’s got plenty of experience in his resume.

Overall expectations for the Mississippi State football program are at an all-time high. Dan Mullen built the Bulldogs into a consistent winner in his time as the head coach at Mississippi State University.

Now, Moorhead is tasked with taking the Bulldogs to that next step in the program’s development. It appears that he’s more than excited for the challenge.

So, should Mississippi State fans expect the Bulldogs to contend for titles immediately?

Nope. That’s a bit of a stretch, even for optimistic and still rational fans. It’s Moorhead’s first year at Mississippi State and this is a program that has never won a national title before (save for a contested 1941 championship).

But, should MSU fans expect the Bulldogs to contend for championships in the future?

Well, Moorhead’s former players up at Penn State are expecting it. And Moorhead himself told Mississippi State’s players to figure out their ring size.
