Fans Should Expect That The Mississippi State Football Team Will Feature One Of The SEC’s Best Offenses

Mississippi State has been known to have a productive offense over the past few seasons. Since Nick Fitzgerald took the reins of the offense at the beginning of the 2016, MSU has consistently featured a solid offense and one that appears to be pretty potent.

But, in an era when offenses continue to improve annually, the Bulldogs have ranked 7th in the SEC in total offense the past two seasons. The Bulldogs, in 2016, scored 30.4 points per game and had 440.8 yards per game. Fast-forward to 2017, Mississippi State scored 32.0 points per game and racked up 418.6 yards per game.

In 2018, the Mississippi State football team is in position to improve that. Joe Moorhead comes in after revolutionizing and reinvigorating Penn State’s offense. He inherits Nick Fitzgerald, an offensive line returning four starters, and two solid running backs in Aeris Williams and Kylin Hill.

Moorhead will need to do something about improving Fitz’s accuracy and developing the Bulldogs’ receivers and tight ends, but the cabinet isn’t empty by any means.
