Mississippi State Softball Makes SEC Tournament

The Mississippi State softball team is headed up to Columbia, Missouri to play in the SEC Softball Tournament
The Mississippi State softball team will be continuing its season on in the Southeastern Conference softball tournament. After Mississippi State went 35-20 overall this year and 7-17 against conference foes, the Bulldogs are the 11th seed in the SEC Softball Tournament.
Vann Stuedeman’s team started the year in a solid fashion, but the Bulldogs hit a rough patch once SEC play started. The Bulldogs’ 7-17 SEC record isn’t the best that MSU has done through the Stuedeman era by far, but it was good enough this year to get the Bulldogs into the conference tournament.
With the SEC being loaded even more so than normal, it’s no surprise that one of the better Bulldog teams in memory struggled when facing fellow SEC teams.
Regardless of that though, with the team being in the conference tournament, there is now a theoretical chance of winning it. And that’s all that MSU needs.
Right now, the Mississippi State softball team is gearing up for play in the NCAA Tournament. MSU is currently attempting to build its postseason resume so that the Bulldogs can get as high of a seed as possible.
Prior to MSU’s most recent round of games this past weekend, MSU was sitting at 20 in the RPI rankings. It was a pretty good spot to be in, but more than likely the Bulldogs have tumbled a bit since then after dropping two games to the Tennessee Lady Vols.

Now, the Mississippi State softball team has a great opportunity to increase that RPI and improve that resume. It’ll be difficult for MSU to do given the road ahead of them, but they have a chance. And a chance is all that they theoretically need.
