Nickelback

No, this isn’t the band we’re talking about. Get any memes and jokes out of your system now. Right now, we’re discussing the hybrid position that will allow Mississippi State to play two linebackers but still be able to to defend against a variety of sorts of offenses.

One reason that Bob Shoop can have two linebackers on the field for most of the game is because of the flexibility this position will afford him and his defense. The Mississippi State football team will probably rotate this position and who plays it throughout the season.

This is a position that I would personally expect to see a few different players featured at. And, depending on how depth spills over from the two safety positions, then expect some of the backups there to possibly get playing time here as well.

  • Starter- Brian Cole
  • Backup- Jaquarias Landrews
    • Again, it’s possible that Landrew, Guidry, and Morgan will be backups here and at the other safety spots.
  • Backup- Landon Guidry
  • Backup- C.J. Morgan
