Defensive End

As was previously discussed at the other end of the defensive line, and at the other stops along the way, this is a huge point of strength for the Bulldogs this year. Mississippi State will boast one of the best defensive fronts in the SEC in 2018. The depth and talent at both defensive end spots is a huge reason why.

Gerri Green was a force that few offensive fronts could handle a season ago. He’s played the bulk of his career at linebacker. Now, Green will be spending the rest of his time in Maroon and White rushing the quarterback and causing mayhem in the backfield.

Bob Shoop’s 4-2-5 defense will likely rotate defensive lineman, so expect guys like Fletcher Adams (who started a season ago) and Chauncey Rivers (an incredibly talented defensive end who redshirted) to get in on the action and playing time.

  • Starter- Gerri Green
  • Backup- Chauncey Rivers
    • Rivers didn’t get his chance to play last season, but he will in this season. Now that he’s eligible, expect him to push for playing time sooner rather than later.
  • Backup- Fletcher Adams
    • Fletcher Adams is a solid player who could easily continue to be a starter given the level of experience that he has.
