Defensive Tackle
Jeffery Simmons was an All-SEC first team player a season ago. Now, in 2018, he’s gearing up to potentially be a first round pick. Simmons, without a doubt, has the talent and capability to move through offensive linemen like a hot knife through butter.
Behind Simmons will be some solid backups too. Braxton Hoyett proved his worth last season when Cory Thomas went down with an injury. That allowed Hoyett to get several starts and gain plenty of experience playing in the Southeastern Conference.
That experience will pay off this year.
- Starter- Jeffery Simmons
- Expectations will be very high for Simmons has he heads into what is probably his final season playing football for Mississippi State University. Jeffery Simmons arrived in Starkville under incredibly controversial circumstances. Since then, he has kept quiet off the field and has been a solid player on the field.
- Backup- Braxton Hoyett
- Braxton Hoyett got plenty of starts a season ago. Once Cory Thomas went down, Hoyett stepped in and played well, complimenting the rest of the defensive line. Expect him to get plenty of minutes, allowing Simmons or Thomas to get rest this year.
