Mississippi State football’s Leo Lewis was arrested early this morning

Well, this isn’t good. This is, actually, the exact opposite of good. Leo Lewis, a junior starting linebacker for Mississippi State football, has been arrested by the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office, according to reports.

The arrest occurred late last night/early this morning around 1:00 am. Lewis was reportedly stuck in traffic outside of the Aspen Heights apartments and, in an attempt to get through traffic, drove the wrong direction. According to WTVA News, Lewis continued despite attempts by the police to get him to stop and he was subsequently arrested.

Lewis was taken into the custody of the sheriff’s office and was then released on a bond of $483.00.

Leo Lewis has been a longtime starter for the Mississippi State football team and is a major contributor on the Bulldogs’ defense. In 2016, Lewis was one of the best defenders for the Bulldogs. He took a step back in 2017 and didn’t play as well. However, there’s hope that he’ll improve on the field in 2018.

There’s no telling as to what impact this incident will have. The arrest itself is frustrating, but the crime appears to be fairly minor and insignificant. Despite that, it’s something that still happened and is a bit of a distraction.

No word yet on what, if anything, Mississippi State will do about this. Given the nature of the crime, it’s more than likely that this will be handled internally between Lewis and the MSU coaching staff.

If/when more about this is released, we’ll update this post here with relevant information. Hopefully though, this will be the last that we’ll hear about this situation. With it being relatively insignificant, my bet is there won’t be much more coming about this.
