Four Mississippi State Bulldogs were picked over the weekend in the 2018 NFL Draft

Mississippi State football wasn’t expected to be heavily represented in the 2018 NFL Draft. Mostly because the bulk of the Bulldogs’ heavy contributors are just now attaining NFL Draft eligibility as they head into the 2018 season. That, and Montez Sweat came back for another season and Nick Fitzgerald didn’t have a spectacular junior season.

But, even though MSU didn’t expect to hear many of its players called over the weekend, it still had a decent group selected. Mississippi State football saw four of its players picked up by three different teams in the National Football League this weekend.

That’s good for 5th most in the Southeastern Conference in 2018.

Two went to the Houston Texans, one went to the Green Bay Packers, and then finally, one went to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

None of the selections were really in the more notable rounds of the NFL Draft, but that’s not all that important. Mississippi State got four guys a shot at the NFL as they were picked up over the weekend.

Now, they’ll have a chance to prove themselves and try to make it into the NFL in a more permanent role. It won’t be easy, especially given that two of the former MSU players selected over the weekend are specialists and will have to compete for their spots on a team.

But they have a chance. And that matters quite a bit.

So, here’s which former Mississippi State Bulldogs were picked up over the weekend in the 2018 NFL Draft.
