Aeris Williams Should Run For 1000 Yards Again This Season

A season ago, Aeris Williams was the leading rusher for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. And, well, he was pretty dang good at running the ball right down the throats of opposing defenses. In 2017, Williams ran for 1107 yards and 6 touchdowns on 4.7 yards per carry. While defenses were worried about Nick Fitzgerald running the ball, Williams moved it right up the field in front of them.

It’s very possible that Williams will break 1000 yards again.

Last year, Mississippi State struggled to throw the ball deep. Defenses were then able to key in and slow down the Bulldogs’ rushing attack and catch the short passing game. Joe Moorhead looks to diversify how the Bulldogs attack through the air. That’ll allow for wider running lanes for Williams.

Defenses are going to have to contend with more than just a two headed running attack too. Mississippi State might just have a few more runners carrying the ball, which will keep Williams fresh.
