This Is The Last Season Of Mississippi State Football For Montez Sweat

And we should be so, so grateful that he decided to return for another year. Montez Sweat only has one more year of eligibility left. A season ago, Sweat was one of the most dominant defensive lineman in the entire Southeastern Conference. There were some murmurs about whether or not he would return for another season of college football.

He did.

And now, Mississippi State will feature several powerful pass rushers on their defensive line. The Bulldogs will be loaded up front and Sweat is in a position to lead the Bulldogs in tackles for loss and sacks again. Given that he had 15.5 and 10.5 respectively, Sweat will receive plenty of attention and double teams from offensive linemen.

But then the opponent will have to contend with any of a dozen possible other defensive linemen that may be on the field for the Bulldogs at any given time.

Sweat may be the focal point of a lot of scouting reports. That doesn’t mean that he still won’t get to the quarterback.
