No. 19 Mississippi State Softball Seeks Second Straight SEC Series Win

Mississippi State softball has come close to claiming some pretty big series wins this year. They’ve won quite a bit, but have struggled to hold on and beat some of the best teams in the Southeastern Conference.

Early on in this season, Mississippi State softball hosted Georgia. The battles between the Bulldogs were all close and it was feasible to say that Mississippi State could have swept Georgia. But that’s not how it turned out. MSU only won one of their three games then.

And when Mississippi State welcomed Texas A&M into town, the Bulldogs had the Aggies on the ropes at times. Mississippi State could have claimed that series. But that’s not how it turned out. Again, MSU only won one of their three games then.

Still, the Bulldogs are the 19th ranked team for a reason.

They’re good. Really good. But, the team they’re facing this weekend is, without much of a doubt, notably better. Mississippi State is looking to prove that this fact doesn’t matter this weekend. The Mississippi State softball team is aiming to claim a couple of wins and upset a national title contender in the process.

Florida comes to town as a top 10 team. Some would consider the Gators a top 5 team. Florida holds the best record in conference play amongst all the teams in the SEC. And, as such, the legendary program is looking to make it back to another national title series appearance.

But this weekend, they’re playing in Nusz Park in Starkville. It’s Super Bulldog Weekend and Mississippi State is hoping for a little magic and some big plays as they take on the Gators. This won’t be an easy series by any means.
