Mississippi State Football Welcomes Back NFL Alumni To Be Guest Captains At Bulldogs’ Spring Game
With Super Bulldog Weekend happening, well, this weekend, many alumni and fans will be flocking to Starkville to spend time supporting MSU and experiencing everything that Friday through Sunday will offer. Mississippi State football is welcoming back some familiar faces as well.
Dak Prescott, Gabe Jackson, and Johnthan Banks are all returning to Starkville for another game. This time, it’s the spring game. The annual Maroon and White game. The trio of Mississippi State football greats will be on the sidelines and will be guest captains this Saturday.
Joe Moorhead’s MSU team is bringing all three back to help celebrate what they built Mississippi State into and to welcome what is up ahead of the university and the football team this upcoming season.
It’s no secret that these three players helped build Mississippi State football into what it is today.
Johnthan Banks was part of the early days of the Dan Mullen era and really got the foundation set for MSU. In 2012, he won the Thorpe Award and tied for the most interceptions in MSU history during his time in the Maroon and White. Banks then went on to play in the NFL for a few years. He was drafted in the second round of the 2013 draft to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Gabe Jackson played an instrumental part of building MSU during the Dan Mullen era. He redshirted early on but then quickly became a full-time starter for the Bulldogs. In that time, Jackson had a ton of success protecting Mississippi State’s quarterbacks while also paving the way for MSU’s running attack. In 2014, Jackson was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the 3rd round and has been playing since.
Dak Prescott certainly needs no introduction. Everyone is familiar with his story and his ascension. And, well, as Dak Prescott elevated his play, Mississippi State rose in prominence. Prescott owns a multitude of records for the Bulldogs and has done great things for the university and community. Now, after being drafted by the Cowboys, Prescott is having success in Dallas and appears to have a long career ahead of him there.
